Do I need an EPC?
You will need an Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) whenever a property is built, sold or rented out. An EPC has information about the properties energy usage and typical energy costs but it also contain recommendations on how you can reduce your energy usage and therefore save you money. Your property is then rated from A to G, A being the most efficient and G being the least efficient.
You must ensure that you order an EPC before you start marketing your property to sell or rent. It doesn’t matter who you are selling or renting to, whether it be an estate agent or a family member, this must be done. Once completed, your EPC is valid for 10 years.
How do I get an EPC?
To get an EPC, you will need to find a registered domestic assessor such as ourselves to visit your property to examine key items such as loft insulation, domestic boiler, hot water tank, radiators, windows for double glazing, and so on. Once the survey has been completed, we will email you the results within one working day, followed up by a hard copy in the post.
